This weekend kicks off a short series we’re calling “Family Matters”. Pastors Jim Lee and Brian Stuchul have actively worked with students and parents for many years, and their experiences generated wisdom that is vital to our growth. The three-week series is based in Malachi 4:6 – And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. God wants our hearts to be connected with our children’s hearts!

This series is about much more than changing a child’s behavior – it emphasizes individual growth and building an appetite for growth. We’ll talk about what happens when we parent out of our brokenness, how performance-based relationships create insecure children, and how to take advantage of teachable moments.

This weekend Jim will talk about a key element for healthy children: parents that are in a good place. He’ll present indicators of a healthy parent and how to move forward when warning lights start signaling.

Next weekend Brian will talk about Solomon, using his example to explore our need for child-like dependence upon Christ. The world’s wisest man admitted to God that he was a little child. What can we learn from his life?

Finally, Jim will close out the series on June 14 with thoughts on healthy parenting. Key topics will cover how to intentionally prepare your child, why a child’s feelings matter more than obedience, and the importance of children hearing from multiple voices as they grow.

Family matters. This series will provide key steps for personal growth and encourage those that are struggling. See you Sunday!
