Graceway partners with the Raytown Emergency Assistance Program (REAP) to help those in our community having trouble making ends meet. Whether they are struggling due to job loss, illness, or an unexpected family crisis, REAP helps men, women, and children in Raytown and Kansas City that would otherwise go hungry. This weekend is our annual drive to collect non-perishable food items and toiletries.
For the past several years our Youth League teams have been challenged to collect items – the team with the highest number wins a pizza party! A vehicle will be parked near the ballpark entrance to accept donations. Game fans are welcome to bring their items and contribute toward their favorite team’s total.
We’ll also be collecting items this Sunday. A vehicle will be parked near our front entrance to collect bags. We realize carrying items to the building can be difficult, so you have the option to leave your bag on the trunk or hood of your vehicle. Volunteer teams will patrol the parking lot and transport bags to the collection vehicle.
The list of suggested items (http://visitgraceway.org/reap-food-drive/) likely contains things that are already on your weekend shopping list. If each of us picks up several items we can help REAP meet the needs of our community for several months. A few years ago Graceway contributed 30,000 items to REAP’s shelves – can we do more in 2015?
