ACCOUNTANT
Graceway is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-minded Accountant to join our Finance Team. This full-time role is responsible for overseeing contributions, supporting accounts payable, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with non-profit financial standards. Ministry and Management Philosophy
Graceway is both a local church and a 501(c)(3) not for profit corporation. We do not consider these two designations to be in conflict. Our final authority is the Word of God. At the same time, we practice a management philosophy that would be consistent with any efficiently managed corporation. Personal responsibility, integrity in maintaining compliance with laws and regulations that govern our church, as well as direct management and supervision of employees, including the assessment of performance, is to be expected. Ministry Involvement
Each employee that is a member of Graceway is asked to remain involved in ministry to keep a proper perspective on vocation/occupation. Since employees at Graceway almost always minister where they work, the line between ministry and employment will be blurred at times.
Stewardship
Each employee that is a member of Graceway is responsible to support the ministry of Graceway financially. The minimum standard for an employee is a tithe.
Emotional Maturity
Employment at Graceway presents challenges that are unique to a church environment. Employees must be able to consistently demonstrate emotional stability and maturity.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA/CMA certification is a bonus.
Experience
- Proven experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting.
- Experience with contribution management software and donor systems is highly desirable.
- Preferred 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a non-profit or church environment.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or other financial systems) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information appropriately.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff and church members.
Knowledge
- Familiarity with non-profit financial management, including donor contribution processing, is a plus.

Oversee Offering and Contributions:
- Count, reconcile, and record weekly offerings and contributions into specialized donor management software.
- Process online and ACH contributions, resolve returned items, and maintain accurate contribution records.
- Conduct giving reviews for potential ministry leaders and generate annual/monthly contribution statements for members.
- Coordinate the distribution of offering envelopes annually for the entire membership and monthly for new members.
Manage Monthly Missions Distributions:
- Process monthly payments to missionaries, ensuring timely notification via email of deposits.
- Maintain and organize documentation and receipts related to missionary support.
Accounts Payable Support:
- Serve as backup support for the Lead Bookkeeper by entering payables and processing payments as needed.
- Process weekly payables for designated ministries.
Provide General Accounting Office Support:
- Assist with monthly bank reconciliations and the preparation of financial statements.
- Manage general office tasks, including filing, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, and ordering office supplies.
- Perform other general responsibilities as directed by the Finance Director.
- Assist in preparing for financial audits and ensuring compliance with church policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on improving financial operations.
- Provide financial insights and reports to church leadership as needed.
- Ensure proper handling and safeguarding of financial records and documents.
- Support special projects or events that require accounting expertise, such as fundraising campaigns or capital projects.
